Müller Technique (Phlebectomy)

If we decide that sclerocompression therapy is not the desired treatment for your varicose veins at this time, we can also opt for a surgical technique that involves removing varicose veins subcutaneously under local anaesthesia. After the skin is locally anaesthetised in certain areas, very small incisions (1 mm incisions) are made in the skin above the varicose veins. Using a kind of crochet needle, the vein is hooked through the skin and removed.

In this way, the entire varicose vein is then removed subcutaneously (see photo). Because the incisions are very small, minimal scars are created, ensuring optimal cosmetic results. Treatment may be accompanied by slight complications such as bruising and numbness. These disappear spontaneously after a few weeks.
